Annular cutters are specialized design bits for milling through steel, much faster than regular drill bits. Annular cutters cut only the periphery of the hole, ejecting the remaining center as a slug.
They produce burr-free holes in one operation without pre-drilling or step drilling. HSS cutters are made of high-speed steel with multi-cut geometry for ply-cutting to gain better removal of chips.
We supply HSS cutters with diameters up to 65 mm and cutting depths up to 100 mm. TCT cutters incorporate carbide tips with multi-cut geometry for ply-cutting, lower friction and reduced damage of tips. TCT cutters need to be turned at higher speeds than HSS cutters. We supply TCT cutters with diameters up to 160 mm and cutting depths up to 100 mm. Annular cutters incorporate 3/4″ Weldon shank or 1-1/4″ Weldon shank for cutting holes with large diameters above 65 mm, where more torque is generated.
Annular cutters advantages over twist drills:
- save time and money by eliminating costly pilot holes and step drilling
- cut material only at the periphery of the hole and produce chips from the outside cutting edges only, whereas twist drills convert entire hole to chips
- can create a much larger hole and require far less power and torque than twist drills of comparable size
- produce reamed quality burr-free holes
- HSS cutters can be re-sharpened
