Meet PRO-36 in its new incarnation! Experience increased cooling & reduced high-pitched tones

With a power of 1020W, a load speed of 350 rpm, and a weight of just 10 kg, the PRO-36 magnetic drilling machine is a compact yet powerful solution – ideal for a wide range of industrial applications.

New generation

Now PRO-36 mag drill has entered a new generation. After advanced testing, acoustic simulations, and optimization, we introduce a new version that features increased cooling and reduced high-pitched tones. These changes make the PRO-36 even more user-friendly, durable, and comfortable to operate, while keeping the machine’s proven reliability and performance.

PRO-36 with increased cooling

To achieve higher airflow and increased cooling performance, detailed aerodynamic simulations were carried out using advanced HEXAGON scFLOW software. The results were then validated by PROMOTECH engineers using 3D-printed prototypes. This process enabled a redesigned fan geometry, optimizing both the number and shape of the fan blades, increasing airflow dynamics, fan performance, and overall cooling efficiency.

A cooler motor undergoes less thermal stress, which slows insulation wear, reduces the risk of overheating, and ultimately extends the machine’s service life. Increased cooling also minimizes downtime by reducing the need to pause operation for motor cool-offs.

What is important, this increased cooling capacity was achieved without raising operational noise levels.

Reduced high-pitched tones – Hear the difference

Noise is more than just a number in decibels. Some frequencies are especially unpleasant, even at moderate volume. Operators often report discomfort caused by sharp, high-pitched tones, especially during long work shifts or when operating indoors. Squeaky or “chirping” noises around 5–8 kHz and narrow-band squealing with rapid fluctuations in pitch or amplitude are particularly fatiguing and annoying to the human ear.

PROMOTECH engineering team focused specifically on reducing this type of unpleasant sound.  HEXAGON Actran Acoustics software was used for a detailed vibro-acoustic analysis.  This advanced simulation tool enabled precise modelling of sound behaviour and structural vibrations, allowing us to identify and reduce tonal peaks around 7 kHz — a frequency most commonly perceived as piercing or harsh.

The result is a noticeably smoother acoustic profile, with more than 2 dB reduction in overall noise levels and a significant decrease in sharp, high-pitched tones. The drilling experience is now more comfortable, while the PRO-36 mag drill maintains its proven performance and efficiency.

PRO-36 – A Compact, Reliable, and Proven Mag Drill

Its compact size, reliability, versatility, and long-standing performance have made the PRO-36 one of PROMOTECH’s flagship mag drills, widely used by professionals around the world. The PRO-36 is designed to drill holes up to 36 mm (1.42″) in diameter and 51 mm (2″) deep using annular cutters. It can also drill holes up to 12 mm in diameter with twist drill bits with a 19 mm (3/4″) Weldon shank.

The PRO-36 features a strong electromagnetic base delivering 9,000 N of clamping force that ensures secure attachment to ferromagnetic surfaces. An optional vacuum pad can be used for a reliable clamping on non-ferromagnetic materials as well.

A built-in monitoring system continuously checks the clamping force of the electromagnetic base. If the force drops below a safe level—such as when working on surfaces thinner than 6 mm —the system prevents the machine from operating, ensuring safe and controlled drilling conditions at all times.

For pipe applications, the optional DMP 250 pipe attachment provides stable positioning on diameters from 80 to 250 mm, preventing the machine from slipping.

The newest PRO-36 mag drill combines the durability users know with increased cooling and reduced high-pitched noise for a more comfortable drilling experience. Still compact, still reliable, and now even more comfortable to use — the PRO-36 continues to support long hours of precise, uninterrupted drilling in any environment.
